Good Points: Velsao beach
Bad Points: Unpleasant experience, bad management at hotel, unkept rooms and far away from civilization! I have to admit, Velsao beach is very beautiful, gorgeous sea, sand and palm trees. But best to come here for a day trip than staying at the hotel.

Comment:

Spent one week at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Goa recently and surrounding Cansaulim area and really enjoyed it. The hotel is on a massive property, we were given a room next to the pool which was very convenient, the room was big, clean and bed very comfortable. Overall the Park Hyatt hotel was great and the staff friendly, it’s just the food that’s somewhat expensive. Average price per person per meal = 15 Euros or 1000 Indian rupees.
Right outside the hotel there’s a few shops that sell drinks, snacks and you can get a local taxi or rickshaw and rent bike scooters there as well. My wife had never been to Goa before so we decided to rent bike scooters (cost about 200 rupees per day) and explore the area. Just to the south of the hotel on the main road there’s an excellent supermarket.. think it was called Shop and Save.
What we enjoyed most during our Goa vacation was get gathering a few supplies from the supermarket, preparing a picnic and driving around in our rented scooter to the surrounding beaches. Great spot for a picnic is Velsao Beach about 4kms north of the Park Hyatt hotel. There’s a local picnic area there and great spot to meet / see locals and experience some of the Goan culture. Velasao beach is wide, flat and stretches out a few km’s the north and endless as the eye can see to the south. The beach is lined with coconut palm trees and there’s only a couple of beach shacks if you want a cold drink or for some local food. Right next to the beach is a church and cricket ground… interesting to see the amount of locals going to church and had a really good time just sitting back a watching the locals play a game of cricket. If you stay at a hotel in Goa, make sure you get and out and explore!
