| Good Points: | Rajbag beach, south Goa |
| Bad Points: | Intercontinental hotel |
We stayed at Intercontinental hotel on Rajbag beach in south Goa back in 2002 and had a very pleasant experience. Cannot say the same about our most recent stay there from Feb 2 to Feb 9, 2011. We are British couple who have traveled to Goa every year since 1999 and have stayed at almost every Goa 5 star resort from Candolim to Cavelossim beaches!
There was a very large Indian wedding taking place during the entire week we were there, it was noisy, busy and felt like the hotel staff didn’t even notice us. We had to be told every day which restaurant to eat in since the large wedding party occupied most of the restaurants on the hotel property.
The hotel has its own private beach, but the wedding party guest ruined it for us almost every day! Always using the loud jet ski’s and couldn’t stop staring at my wife all the time.. like they never saw a women in a bikini before!
Rajbaga beach is breathtaking, lined with coconut palm trees, white sands and tropical sea. Too bad this is the only hotel on this beach! There are a few guesthouses around and its worth having a more simple Goa holiday to enjoy this beach. My wife and I learned a valuable lesson on this trip, sometimes there are too many things that can go wrong when staying in a luxury resort, and maybe its best to rent a beach house or next time stay in a smaller boutique hotel in Goa!

| Good Points: | walking from Palolem to Rajbaga beach |
| Bad Points: | security guard on Rajbaga beach |
My boyfriend and were staying at the Oceanique Hotel in Patnem recently and just loved walking on the beaches in and around south Goa. From the north end of Palolem beach you can walk south to Patnem beach and all the way to Rajbaga beach... about a 5km walk.
Or you can do the reverse and start in Rajbaga beach and make your way north… only problem with this option is many tourist think Rajbaga beach is private since the Intercontinental Hotel is located on this beach. Well, it sort of is… from Patnem beach on the south end you have to walk over a small headland to get to Rajbaga, sometimes there’s a security guard there but they still let you through. You can walk on the beach, but don’t go swimming in front of the hotel, this part is private. On the south end of the beach, Talpona river runs through it where many locals go fishing and across the river there’s a small fishing port. So there’s no problem to swim on the south end of Rajbaga beach.
Also, to reach Rajbaga beach by road.. go to the Intercontinental Hotel, pass the main entrance and turn right on the road after hotel, pass the small temple and keeping going on the side of the hotel until you reach the end of the road, turn left and stop at the end of the dirt road. ENJOY THE WALK AND THE BEACH!
