Good Points: Colva beach, Soul vacation resort, volleyball on the beach
Bad Points: hotel pool needs maintenance, beach gets crowded on weekends
Comment:

Stayed at Soul Vacation Resort near Colva beach in February 2011 for 7 nights with my wife. Rooms were large, comfortable beds and fancy bathroom. Hotel pool needs some maintenance, felt like they hadn’t replaced broken tiles in long time.

Colva beach is about a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. Although its closer to the city center of Margao, the village is quite small, only one main street and no real night life. As for the beach, white sands, soft and plenty of sun beds. The sea was beautiful, clean and blue. Small waves and safe to swim. Beach shacks offer some great food at reasonable prices. Many German and Russian tourist around the area… but loads of English too :)And you can catch a good game of Beach volleyball almost daily.

Good Points: Caji’s, Fishland, Portofino, Martin’s corner restaurants,
Bad Points: Mickey’s, Kentuckee Seafood
Comment:

Recently returned from a holiday in Colva beach, and here’s my ‘Restaurant Report’ from the area :)
Caji’s – best steak in south Goa! Excellent fish & chips and seafood.
Fishland – the name says it all! Delicisous fish tika.
Portofino - opposite the football ground, great menu and service!
Martin’s Corner – recommend to reserve in advance, can get busy. Good food and live music!
Mickey’s – changed location, much further up the beach now. Great setting, food just ok.
Kentuckee Seafood – all I can say… uckee! Not worth the visit.

Good Points: Thali at Sagar Kinara, Mickey’s restaurant, The beach!
Bad Points: no nightlife
Comment:

Some locals consider the stretch of beach between Cansualim beach to the north all the way to Cavelossim / Mobor beach to be simply Colva beach. Making Colva one of the longest beaches in the world at 24 kms! Needless to say, you can walk up and down Colva beach for hours, with lots of things to see, do and learn along on the way.
Downside to Colva, not much nightlife unless you have a casual drink in a beach shack, restaurant or hotel bar. Best to go to north Goa if you want to party! :)
Great places to have Indian food in Colva, don’t miss out on a quality Thali @ Sagar Kinara. And if you fancy a romantic or blissful dinner on the beach, seeing the sun go down into the sea and listening to the waves… then go to Mickey’s restaurant directly on the beach! Fabulous seafood, try the Crab sukha and rava fried fish! It’s spectacular! :):):)
Enjoy!

Good Points: beach walk and swim
Bad Points: early morning train rides, Woodlands hotel in Margao
Comment:

Colva beach to the rescue! We had an early 6am train booked from Goa to Hampi and had to stay a night in Margao city. Not the most pleasant place to stay in Goa and difficult to find a good budget hotel in and around Margao. Stayed at the Woodlands Hotel, staff not very organized and had to ask for even the most basic things like towels and toilet paper. Best thing about the hotel was the bakery downstairs and one down the street called Bread & More… good coffee and croissants.
Arrived at the hotel in early afternoon and being bored with nothing to do, we hired a rickshaw to take us to the nearest beach which was Colva beach (200 INR each way). More of a city beach but stretches far enough south and north to find a secluded spot or go for a nice walk. Lots of Indians on the beach so felt uncomfortable to walk around in my bikini… so kept my t-shirt on and still had a nice swim. Sea was refreshing after walking around all day in the city heat. Lots of beach shacks and water sports on the beach so can get noisy in the main Colva beach area.
