"Lovely beach and hotel"

| Good Points: | Benaulim beach, Sunils, Joecons Beach Resort |
| Bad Points: | hotel not on beach |
We stayed near Benaulim beach at Joecons Beach Resort for 7 nights and we were very impressed. Please take note that his hotel is not on the beach, but the spacious rooms, pool, affordable food, service and staff make up for it. Like to say thanks to Khan the hotel manager and his staff Cali and Bobby for make our stay so relaxing and memorable. Will come back again next year.
Benaulim beach is only a short 10 min walk from the hotel, down a small road lined with shops. Shopkeepers friendly and don’t hassle you… ‘Come to my shop?’ is all they asked :)
Hotel has a shack directly on the beach called Sunils. Nice lounge chairs, friendly staff and beach is lovely. Benaulim beach is just a wonderful place to enjoy the sun, sand, sea and magnificent sunsets! What more can you ask for?
"Goa Chitra visit a must when traveling to Goa!"

| Good Points: | Goa Chitra, Benaulim beach |
| Bad Points: | getting too much sun |
When traveling in Goa, there are many places to visit in order to learn more about the Goan culture. My wife and I are always interested in getting to know more about the people and their heritage when traveling abroad.
We found some wonderful places to visit in Goa; Anjuna beach to see the western hippies and how the locals have adapted, to 16th century Portuguese Forts Aquada and Cabo da Rama, the Churches or Old Goa to see Saint Francis in his tomb and Jesuit influence, driving around Panjim and coastal Goa through villages and towns, seeing Goa everyday life and observing fantastic architecture, especially old Goan houses.
And finally Goa Chitra museum near Benaulim beach, a must visit when in Goa to learn more about the Goan heritage. Wonderful artifacts, folklore and lots to learn about old Goan houses and farming communities. They owners also have an organic garden on the property and promote a greener Goa.
Don't miss out!
"Bird watching in Benaulim beach"
| Date of Stay: | January 2011 |
| I am from: | Delhi |
| Travelling Style: | Family & Kids |
| Good Points: | Pedro’s, walking and bird watching on the beach with Shiva |
| Bad Points: | finding Shiva, taxi prices in Goa |
After reading some Goa travel reviews, I came across a story of a bird watching guide named Shiva in Benaulim beach in south Goa. Was looking for activities to do while traveling to Goa with my wife and daughter, and thought bird watching with a guide name Shiva sounded very interesting. Turns out he’s not that easy to find! We organized a day trip from our hotel in Calengute, and we were quoted 1500 INR for a small Tata Indica Taxi.. return trip with wait time.
We left just after breakfast and arrived at Benaulim beach just before noon. We headed straight to Pedro’s beach shack where travel reviews said Shiva was located… but he was nowhere to be found. Almost wished I called him beforehand.. his mobile number is listed on Trip Advisor. But after asking around we were told he might be a Dinah’s restaurant just up the beach and turns out he was there. Nice man with many hobbies, one of which is memorizing people’s postcards from all over the world. We had a fantastic 2 hour walk on the beach and surrounding village and we were impressed with his local knowledge of birds. Cost of tour? We didn’t ask, we just gave a donation at the end… 500 rupees each… it was worth it, nice family and his wife gives Indian cooking lessons too
BTW, since our taxi driver waited almost 4 hours for us, decided to charge us an extra 500 rupees, we were not impressed and found taxi prices in Goa extremely high compared to the rest of India.
