"Organized Theft at The Retreat by Zuri"
| Date of Stay: | December 1969 |
| I am from: | Salem |
| Trip Style: | Family & Kids |
| Good Points: | Great deal for a summer vacation |
| Bad Points: | You will lose all your valuables by the staff organizes theft especially on families with children |
My family and I have been victimized by theft at The Retreat by Zuri, Goa. My family and I were robbed in our room by the employees (thieves) of Zuri. The theft took place on the day of checkout when my wife’s cell phone and money over Rs.40,000.00 was missing from her purse which was placed in the closet of the room before we stepped out of the room for a few minutes. The thieves skillfully utilized the situation of my family with very young children knowing exactly how busy we will be before checkout.
On reporting the theft to the hotel managers, we were able to get a log of the openings of lock, and found that the hotel housekeeping staff had entered our room few minutes after we had left, and for no request made by us for room cleaning as we were checking out of the hotel in an hour. Apparently, the room was not cleaned. The log sheet also showed numerous entries made by the hotel housekeeping even at odd hours like 11:10 pm and so on during our absence.
On inquiring with the management about these unnecessary entries, the response we got was, that it is the Hotel Policy for the hotel employees to enter the occupied room whenever and without the guest’s permission to keep the hotel premises (including the corridors and common areas) clean and the hotel cannot take responsibility for missing items in the room by their employees. This hotel did not have security cameras on the corridors and common areas to trace the thieves. The room door was not provided with safety door chains or safety door bars.
If you are a family especially with young children, please avoid this place before becoming a victim by the group of thieves of the Hotel who are utilizing the helpless situation of foreign and out of state tourists. This theft is a group activity, and the hotel staff include many managers within the organization who are very well aware of the difficulties that out of state tourists face after being victimized and do their best to check the guest out at the earliest to cover up. Until today the hotel is trying to wash their hands off and putting the burden on the guest saying it is not their responsibility if their employees end up stealing.

"Great Hotel - Warm Welcome!"
| Date of Stay: | July 2010 |
| I am from: | Birmingham, UK |
| Trip Style: | Group of friends |
| Good Points: | Good gym, poolside spacious, good food, large rooms and free transport to the White Sands beach resort |
| Bad Points: | Too much of hospitality; the bell keeps ringing even after you put a no-disturb sign at the door; most Indian food not upto the mark; no activities in the hotel; the sightseeing trip was bad and expensive |
Going back with a little disappointment in my heart. The hotel is good no doubt, if all you want to do is sleep or swim in the beautiful pool. There should have been more to do at the hotel. The staff are great, but too pestering. They are always asking you about something or other; my friend told me they are doing this because they expected tips from foreigners. However, I found them genuine and I did not tip too much. Goa is beautiful during monsoons, and I loved my stay here.

"Nice Place - Definitely could be better"
| Date of Stay: | May 2010 |
| I am from: | Bangalore, India |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | No disturb sign can be switched on, excellent omelettes, most Indian dishes good. |
| Bad Points: | Remotedness of the hotel; cost of basic items such as water which is 5 times more than what it costs outside the hotel; unreasonably costly charges for many services that should come free such as Internet, pool games, etc |
Went for a short vacation for 5 days and enjoyed our stay plenty. The hotel would do better if they did not charge for everything you use inside. You start feeling after a while that they will bill you for the air you breathe as well. Otherwise the staff are superb, service good, property great. Overall we loved our stay.
