Good Points: Rooms are nice, staff helpful, beach just about 3 min away
Bad Points: Room service slow, swimming pool had stuff floating in it
Comment:

This is very comfortable and nice hotel and amazingly cheap compared to other hotels in Goa. We loved the fresh eggs breakfast they serve in the morning. We were a group of six and were quite a handful but the staff were always courteous and helpful. If you want some great food, try the Tuscany Gardens about 5 minutes away by tuc-tuc from the hotel. It serve mind blowing Italian cuisine.

We found the room service tardy, so we made it a habit to keep fruits and a travel kettle in the room.

The beach is a stone throw away. Too many sellers come by and hassle you to buy this and that. Candolim is beautiful and the beach superb. Ask the locals to take you by boat to see the dolphins. They sell passion fruit and pineapple on the beach – superb!!

We loved Goa and the hotel; it was much beyond our expectations for the tariff charged.

Bad Points: Limited choice at breakfast (only eggs!!), food poorly done and expensive

I travel single so I am used to a little discomfort while travelling in India. What warmed my heart about this place right from the beginning was that it was very friendly without encroaching upon my privacy. Had wonderful room, large with two balconies which I loved on sight. Food is simply awful. I found a lovely place at the end of the road that serves the best chicken tikka ever. Cheap, too.

Do not exchange money at the hotel as they will give you less that outside. There is a place just outside the hotel that pays at least 4-5 rupis more to the pound.

Hotel managed tours to spice plantation and elephant sanctuary were superb but costly. They charged me £75 for both tours. Regular taxies would take you for about £25. Look up Sandy at the Laxmi Tourist Taxi – great service and nominal price.

Loved my stay here. HUGELY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

We are a family of four and we keep coming to Highland Beach Resort every time we make a trip to India. Goa is an amazing location and this hotel is the icing on the cake.

We love everything about this hotel. The rooms are great, the staff are polite and fast to please, and the pool is just the best thing here. There are leaves falling in it all the time – and people hate it, but this has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the water.

We did get a little bored with the limited breakfast menu, but that was solved with a dash to the supermarket when we got a few cereal boxes. Food is not so great but you have enough eateries around the hotel so you will not go hungry.

There is something about this hotel that makes you never want to go. WE LOVE IT!!!

It took a little to acclimatize to the local culture. Don’t let it shock you. Once you get to know the people, you will love it here. The hotel is superb. Right from day 1 staff are all out to see you are all good and settled. The food at the restaurant was good. We did have some 2-3 bad meals, but that was because we did not know what we were ordering; being adventurous and the like.

Wine is very expensive. Instead we guzzled Kingfisher beer which I must say for £1 is superb. We missed coffee initially until we found Café Chocolat a little down the road.

If you want to have fun, go for the Anjuna market but be ready to barter hard. The trick is to start with less than 50 percent of the quoted amount and work upto 60-75%. We found the prices low, but loved bartering; it was like winning a prize. Also take a boat into the sea to watch the dolphins splash about.

If you do not like to hassle too much with the sellers on the Candolim beach try going a little further the coast to Morjim beach. You will have all the quiet and beauty of the sea you want here. You can hire a taxi for the whole day for about £12-15, which is just fine.

Every day was immensely pleasant!

Bad Points: : Lacks maintenance, staff hungry for tips, beds rock hard, housekeeping non-existent, service hopeless
Comment:

Stayed for five days because there were no other hotels in the immediate vicinity where I could get a reservation. The rooms looked that they were cleaned once every week, there was no toilet paper and in spite of me asking repeatedly, I got it hours after. Food should not even be mentioned here; so bad.

The management does not bother that guests are perturbed. They just shrug their shoulders, nod their heads and disappear. When they do send staff for something, they would remain with their hands outstretched waiting for tips.

Terrible place. Absolute disaster.

Good Points: Positive points: Staff friendly and helpful, free safe deposit, hotel provides local adaptors (though we bought ours) for electrics, rooms spacious, aircon effective
Bad Points: Negative points: No elevators for 5 floors, lacks maintenance, poor housekeeping, refrigerator in pathetic condition
Comment:

When we checked in, we were shocked by the room condition. Everything looked in shambles, dirty and unkempt. It took us two days to realize that the fixtures are rather shabby and worn out with time, and not dirty. The houseboy who came daily for housekeeping really made a good job at keeping the room sparkling clean.

We had trouble with the shower which was fixed after placing our complaint with the receptionist – Ella, a very efficient girl. We had the bed sheets changed twice before we were satisfied with their cleanliness – and the management complied.

We upgraded to the new block and for only £15 extra we got a far better deal. The refrigerator in this room was still old but the rest of the room more sunny and welcoming.

Pleasant and warm once you get over the initial shabbiness.
