"200 HUNDRED YEARS OLD COLONIAL HOUSE!! WOW!!! "
| Date of Stay: | March 2011 |
| I am from: | Mumbai, India |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | Superbly restored 200 years old house, close to great beaches, great outdoors, refreshing and very clean swimming pool, gourmet food, |
| Bad Points: | Service can be a problem at times |
The main point of attraction for me was that this hotel is actually a 200 year old Portuguese house restored and modified into a hotel. I was delighted to see that it sustains its ancient charm to the largest extent possible. The owner has not even airconned some of the rooms so as to maintain its original charm. You actually would not miss the air-conditioning for the construction allows for excellent ventilation of the rooms.
Everything is superb here; food, housekeeping, staff, swimming pool and even its location. The Casa Palacio Siolim House is away from noise and tourist pollution. Yet, it is close enough to some of the most beautiful beaches of Goa. Check out Morjim and Ashvem beaches. Mind blowing places!!
Overall a superb place. All those who love history and antiquities cannot miss Casa Palacio Siolim House. Memorable stay; unforgettable people!!

"Perfect Place "
| Date of Stay: | November 2010 |
| I am from: | New York, USA |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | Perfection in the interior décor of each room, food is good, the house has an unparalleled charm, relaxing and very well maintained pool, secluded location which is one of the best points, within minutes drive from at least 5 great beaches |
| Bad Points: | Service slow, nothing to see in Siolim, a little pricey comparatively |
The best part of Casa Palacio Siolim House is that it is located away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist hangouts. This gives you time and scope to discover Goa at your pace. There are at least 5 great beaches around this place and each one is a delight. Rent a taxi or a bike and go for exploring the surroundings; you will find something to celebrate about in every corner. Make sure you try out food at the restaurants you find on the beaches. They do not look much – more or less a thatched huts – but they serve some of the most incredible food at prices that are even more incredible. :D
The service in this place is a little slow and sometimes trying. But behind this there is a commendable effort of the owner to provide employment to the locals exclusively. This is great, but the service suffers sometimes because the people are not as qualified and/or trained.
The food here is great; the Chef experiments a lot, which makes you feel like you are coming home for a meal. I had many meals – mostly at dinner time – and I loved each one of them.
The old part of the house does not have the rooms air conditioned – but believe me, you will not miss it. The rooms are wonderfully ventilated – something to do with the Portuguese architecture style of the yonder years – and so you should check out the Superior Rooms.
A definitely great place to stay! Perfect!!

"Charming and Welcoming Place"
| Date of Stay: | December 2010 |
| I am from: | Ho Chi Minh City, |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | Kind staff, nice swimming pool, good food, good service, large reading room upstairs, exotic interior décor with antique furniture and fixtures, excellent guest care |
| Bad Points: | No negative points here |
When we left the hotel we felt compelled to meet the owner of the place and thank him for the wonderful stay. We had a great time here. The rooms have antique furniture which gives the place an exotic and romantic look. There is a swimming pool, and a patio-based restaurant that serves the most amazing food. Most definitely recommend that you eat at the hotel at least once – the food is incredible.
We stayed for only 7 days here, but these were some of the most enjoyable days we spent in Goa. The staff here are most friendly. There is a most wonderful garden and a lovely cozy swimming pool. After staying at some great 5-star hotels I realized that you need not choose the most expensive to have the best ever hotel experience. The Casa Palacio Siolim House is just such an example. You have everything here and more at a fraction of the price – I would any day prefer this place to a 5-star hotel – and I did stay in a couple of them during my travels to India and Goa.
The Casa Palacio Siolim House is located in Siolim, which is a very small village. Nothing to see or do here; but grab a taxi or a scooter and you will find some of the greatest beaches in Goa. My favorite on the list is Arambol – it has completely white sand, a superb sea for swimming and a lovely beach shack that serves mouth watering grilled prawns the size of your fist.
Superb place. Warmly recommended to everyone who wants a little more than hotel comfort. I will definitely seek this place again when I return to India in a couple or so years.

"A LOVELY PLACE FOR VACATIONING!!"
| Date of Stay: | December 2010 |
| I am from: | Brighton, UK |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | Beautiful garden, refreshing and very clean pool, great house (the hotel is set in an old Goan/Portuguese house), cozy interiors, antique furniture, great food, too good staff; close to some of the most beautiful beaches in Goa; free Internet |
| Bad Points: | Siolim is a small village and therefore nothing much to do there |
You want a memorable vacation, you have to visit this place and stay here. Siolim is nothing great, I agree. But this wonderful house more than compensates for it. It is just unimaginably beautiful. It is like running into the arms of your grandmother – warm, welcoming, inviting, comfortable, unforgettable. The rooms are spacious, furnished for comfort and it has complimentary Wi-Fi connectivity. WOW!
Take a scooter – I had leased one as it is cheap and very convenient – and go to Morjim beach, Arambol Beach, Ashvem beach, Mandrem Beach – each one a beauty in its own class. You cannot be bored for you are always discovering something truly wonderful.
Food here is WOW!! We had breakfast on a few occasions and dinner. The service is at times a little slow, but the food is great. You would do well to check out the food at Ave Maria beach shack and Silver Sands. These are small on-the-beach restaurants that serve amazing food quite cheap.
There is also a German bakery that serves everything you want and then some. Check Casa Nostra on Anjuna beach if you want a great pizza. But the best is a little shack on Morjim beach, the Jardin d’Ulysse – it serves some awesome seafood.
We had an awesome stay – and I want to thank Alex here very much – and carry back with us some superb memories. This is not a luxury hotel – but you will experience the comfort and warmth of one. I will definitely come back. Will also recommend it to everyone.

"Delightful and Most Unforgettable Hotel!!"
| Date of Stay: | March 2011 |
| I am from: | Berlin, Germany |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | Great food, close proximity to a very fascinating small church, spotless rooms and especially restrooms, great place |
| Bad Points: | ??? |
: This is an old Portuguese House turned into a hotel – and it is super appealing because of this. The rooms are large and spotless and super comfortable. The people are so welcoming and helpful that it saddens you to leave the place; it feels like you are leaving home just after a few days spent in this delightful place. Special mention needs be done about Varun and Alex who did their best and more to ensure that my stay is as comfortable as it can be. Superb staff this hotel has!!
There are many lovely, lovely beaches around this hotel. My favorite was Mandrem beach and Arambol Beach. Check the food at the beach shacks (makeshift restaurants right on the beach) – which is superb and surprisingly cheap.
The food at Casa Palacio Siolim House is great, too. We had food there on at least four occasions and we loved each time. You want any “adjustments” done to you food, the Chef will gladly oblige any request at no extra charges. Amazing people, here!! Best to eat at the restaurant; rooms service tends to serve food a little cold. ?
There is a very cozy and comfortable reading room upstairs – do not miss it. It is on the first floor and a lovely place to spend some quiet time with yourself.
The town itself – Siolim – is small and not happening; but you need not get stuck here. Some of the best beaches are just around the place in the radius of about 5-10 kms. Just grab a taxi or three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) and explore the place.
I think I will miss this place very much!! And the wonderful staff there!! Definitely a must return destination!!!
