"A GOOD DEAL ANYDAY!!"
| Date of Stay: | February 2011 |
| I am from: | Leads, UK |
| Trip Style: | Family & Kids |
| Good Points: | Close on the beach, amazing pool, nice rooms, exceptional staff, superb food, beautiful setting |
| Bad Points: | Bed a little hard, bathrooms would do would tile change, |
I was reading some of the reviews this hotel attracted and was really surprised with the negative ones. Maybe the perception of people can differ as much!! Anyway, my wife and I checked in early in the morning and loved out rooms instant. The poolside was inviting and the pool great. For food a huge thank you goes to Govinda, the manager of the restaurant who took so much pains to explain to my wife and me each of the dishes on the incomprehensible menu. We ended up loving the sorpatel (pork local dish), hakka noodles (Goan way to make noodles), chicken lollypop (a hot favorite snack in Goa) and jumbo prawn fry (jumbo prawns deep fried – heavenly).
The rooms were beautiful and clean. There were two rooms – one main bedroom and another sitting room. The bedroom had air-conditioning while the sitting room had TV, refrigerator, ceiling fan and a settee. A very cozy arrangement. We had 24 hours hot/cold water which came in handy at night. Other than the rooms being a little worn out, there are no complaints about it.
For whatever the rooms were lacking, the staff more than made up for it with their warmth and friendliness. While it is true that we were liberal with tips (for the place costs so less) I do not think for one moment that their warmth and friendly nature was due to this aspect. These people were genuinely happy to help us – and that is such a change to the clinical manner regular hotels treat their guests. For these people, we were not just tourists who come and occupy rooms in their hotel; rather we were potential friends who were welcomes in the hotel and into their hearts.
We have come to Valentine 4 times after that and every time we marvel at the friendliness of these people and their ability to reach out and make friends despite their busy schedule and hard work.
Will always come back again whenever we are in Goa! Love this hotel!!

"SCARY EXPERIENCE!!"
| Date of Stay: | January 2011 |
| I am from: | Kuwait, UAE |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | Very close to the beach, very affordable (cheap), good swimming pool |
| Bad Points: | Poor room service, rooms not maintained, bed sheets and towels stained, air conditioned noisy and clunky, bathroom wares had stains on it, food too spicy, beds too terrible to sleep on |
This is the first time we have come to India – and Goa was highly recommended by two of my colleagues who married in India. The first time we came to Goa was at one such wedding and we stayed at Vivanta by Taj – which was very nice. We planned this vacation after 2 years and wanted a place that is affordable yet clean and comfortable.
Farzana – my friend – booked this hotel online and we both loves the photographs on the Net and description. Were shocked however to see th reality. The place is depressing and the rooms are clean if you can say that – but the bedsheets are stained and so are the towels. We could bring ourselves to touch them. We asked the staff to change the bed sheets three times until they found really clean ones. The beds were so hard that we could not sleep the whole night.
To add to our grief, at about 2.30 AM the air conditioned stopped working. The ceiling fan made so much noise that we did not have the courage to leave it on.
When we ordered for dinner we were warned that it would be late; however, we were not prepared to wait of 75 minutes that it took for the dinner to be served in the room. We almost forgot that we ordered it!!
The only thing we did enjoy greatly and kind of made up for the whole fiasco reservation was the swimming pool. The swimming pool was lovely, lovely and we sun-bathed most of our stay. The beach too was close enough and very beautiful – but we enjoyed better sipping cocktails at the poolside and sun bathing.
Overall not so good experience!! I do not know whether I would dare to come here again!!

"3 STAR HOTEL WITH 5 STAR SERVICE!!!"
| Date of Stay: | January 2011 |
| I am from: | Namibia, Africa |
| Trip Style: | Leisure |
| Good Points: | 5-star service (this is the best part of this hotel), clean rooms, good swimming pool, warm and friendly ambiance, great location; food something that I still dream about; affordable |
| Bad Points: | Looks shabby at first – especially if you come for the first time to India; beds felt very hard |
When we first came to this hotel I felt like running away immediately. It actually scared me to see it and dreaded to think that I would stay in this type of hotel. I was travelling with my girlfriend at that time – now my wife - and she had told me that the hotel costs a pittance and if the room is clean and good for sleeping that it all for what we would use it. The rooms were clean and that is why I agreed to stay on. I am happy that I did for this was one of my best decisions on vacationing – and one that has brought me to India the third time now.
After two days I realized that the best thing about this hotel – besides the amazing, amazing fingerlicking good food – is the staff. They are so friendly and warm that it is impossible not to make friends. All of them took special interest in us ensuring that we are comfortable night and day. In a couple of days, we were chatting like long lost friends over dinner and whenever my girlfriend liked to take a dip in the fabulous swimming pool.
The management is very much pro-guests and there was nothing that I had asked and was not complied with immediately; if it could not be done, alternatives were sought and they never stopped until I was happy.
Lovely people!! Lovely restaurant!! For us this is better than any 5-star hotels in Goa and we did stay at Taj also!! L O V E L Y!!! O U R F A V O U R I T E!!!
